From Inline Skating to Helping over 50 people

A happy senior woman receives classes in a fitness session, promoting active aging and well-being through the Fit After 50 program.

How it all began

From the moment I laced up my first pair of inline skates at age eight, the world of sports and physical activity captivated me. The thrill of speed skating ignited a passion within me that would shape the rest of my life. With the support of my parents, I quickly discovered that sports were more than just a hobby—they were influential teachers of resilience, discipline, and perseverance.

My love for movement and the lessons learned from sports were the foundation for pursuing a meaningful career. I studied for a bachelor’s degree in Sports and Exercise Sciences from the National School of Sports in Cali, Colombia, and later a Master’s in Kinesiology from the University of Victoria in British Columbia, Canada. These educational experiences solidified my commitment to helping others lead healthier, more active lives.

My Purpose

Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals facing various health challenges. However, my connection with adults aged 50 and above revealed my true calling. Their resilience and distinctive health needs inspired me to open Fit After 50, a company dedicated to helping older adults on their path to improved health and well-being.

At Fit After 50, our vision is simple yet powerful: to help individuals prevent and manage chronic conditions while enhancing their overall quality of life. We achieve this through personalized fitness and kinesiology services that empower our clients to reclaim their strength, mobility, and confidence. After all, aging doesn’t mean slowing down—it’s about finding new ways to move, grow, and thrive.

My commitment

Beyond my work as a kinesiologist, I am deeply committed to giving back to the community. My roles as a health educator with Osteoporosis Canada, a mentor to students at the University of Toronto, and a former board member for the Ontario Kinesiology Association reflect my passion for supporting healthier aging at every level.
